I recently read El Deafo and the part where she got glasses sparked this idea. I related because I had the same experience of seeing the individual leaves on the tree. Before it was just a blur.

I’ve been reading a lot of comics by Gene Luen Yang recently. His comic American Born Chinese is great and Secret Coders is a great medium if you want to get your kids interested in coding. I also did not realize until recently that he is the writer of the follow-up Avatar the Last Airbender (greatest show ever made!) graphic novels. There new show Dragon Prince also has a great cast of characters and dialogue.
